Nature Fits In

While back home in the UK recently, I found myself without a vehicle and resorted to using the local bus service. This particular morning was just the weather I enjoy; a sharp frost, a keen breeze, and the most beautiful clear blue sky. Everything crisp and clear. And so wrapped up in a warm woolen scarf I awaited my transport. The digital sign on the bus stand advised me that the wait would be approximately four minutes.

The word approximately can mean anything, especially in the transport industry,  so I decided to walk up and down to assist the circulation in keeping me warm. After a while of this exercise, I stood for a moment. Glancing at the bushes behind me I saw to my surprise a lovely Robin, his rustic colouring almost like camouflage hiding his presence among the autumn leaves of the bush.

I actually spoke to him (I know); well I had to pass the time somehow. Fortunately, I was the only one at the bus stop. His head moved from side to side, his quick movements all most invisible as he surveyed his surroundings, then as quick as lightning he disappeared into the bushes. I was thinking how wonderful, how lovely his colors were when out he popped again. ” Hello,” I said as his head was swiveling from side to side, ” what a cute Robin you are” and believe me as I spoke he held his head to one side, I can just imagine what he thought. Anyway, I carried on regardless, ” I bet you are busy getting ready for Christmas” now what a dumb thing to say, and out loud too.

Before the moment was lost I quickly pulled out my phone and snapped my new found friend.  Moving closer and closer feeling sure he would fly off but did he? No, he sat posing as though he knew. When my David Bailey act was complete, he popped back into the bush. This was at a bus stop alongside the main road with a supermarket at the rear, so naturally, he was used to such activity and nutters like me talking to him. The rest of the day I felt so good, really happy just thinking of how nature fits into our busy lives or is it the other way around……. I wonder?
