The Lemon Tree and Life

I am fortunate to live in Cyprus. In my travels around our beautiful Island with my Cypriot born wife Ntina, I have come to understand and appreciate many things. Wherever we visit, whatever we do, my beliefs in the universe and the Law of Attraction go with me, which is why I always offer Gratitude at being able to see the beautiful sights and meet so many lovely people on this wonderful Island. We are greeted with so much kindness and love where ever we go.
One such day we visited my Nounas (godmother) house in Nisou Nicosia, the garden is adorned with Olive, Orange, and Mandarin trees, and in the corner of the garden, there is a beautiful Lemon tree.
I was strolled around the garden taking in the quiet relaxing atmosphere, savoring the smell of the Rose bushes, and the sweet smell of the Orange trees. I watched as a small gecko scurried across the hot, dry soil and shot under the nearest stone out of the heat of the sun, and me.
As I came upon the Lemon Tree, I stopped. I had seen the Lemon tree many times before of course, but had never really looked at it; the leaves were a deep green and there was a gloss on them as though someone had polished each one. The fruit that hung heavy on its branches was also a deep green, soon they will be bright yellow and ready to pick.
As I looked, I remembered how it had looked when I came to visit in the winter months; dry branches with spindly twigs shooting here and there, bare of its lush green leaves and looking like a charcoal drawing by some unknown artist and seeming a sad state in the corner of the garden.
As I looked at the tree now in all its glory, I started thinking about the wonders of nature and how they mirrored our own life, the miracles that surround us which many times we take for granted, as I had done the Lemon tree.
`The Secret` and the `Law of Attraction` has taught me many things about life, and now instead of just passing comment on how beautiful things are, I stop and become aware of what’s around me, I did this with the Lemon tree this particular day.
I looked and realized that I have seen this tree many times in all its stages of growth, but never understood until this day just how it reflects my life or anyone’s life; how it can encourage anyone who stops and takes the time to look at it and compare it with their own life.
Why do I say encourage? Because during our lives, we are given many challenges and struggles, many seasons to cope with, but if we have love and gratitude inside us at all times, and believe in our dream, our goal, then we will succeed. Love brings Happiness; Happiness brings Success, not the other way around. With this attitude, we can overcome all situations.
So we are somewhat like the lemon tree; it too travels through the difficult times with the seasons; Autumn, Winter, Spring and then Summer. It struggles through the first two seasons, looking ugly, bare, and despondent, but it survives. It perseveres through the winter weather knowing that with determination and belief, it will survive into the Spring. In the third season, it begins to bear the fruits of its efforts. In the fourth and final season, it blossoms forth with the fruit of its endeavors and achieves its goal.
The Lemon Tree knows it understands the battles. We too must be prepared to do the same. If through the first seasons you struggle do not give up, keep going in the knowledge that with your beliefs’, Love and Gratitude, you will bear the fruit of your dreams.
Thank you for reading this blog,
I wish you all what I have…people around you…who care!
